  8. CLOANTO PERSONAL FONTS MAKER
  9.  
  10. Personal Fonts Maker is a powerful tool for designing and processing
  11. bitmapped fonts. Amiga fonts and fonts created with Personal Fonts Maker
  12. can be transferred to the printer memory and printed at maximum quality
  13. and speed. Personal Fonts Maker can output fonts in formats which can be
  14. read by other Amiga programs, by other computers and by a vast range of
  15. differing printers (even 48-pin and laser printers). The program can
  16. import graphics. It is possible, for example, to work on typographical
  17. fonts input from a scanning device. Complex and/or repetitive
  18. transformations on characters or entire fonts can be defined, recorded,
  19. stored and executed as macros. A special programming language can be used
  20. to define the format in which fonts are to be saved or sent to a printer.
  21. The Personal Fonts Maker package includes a multitude of original fonts
  22. and support tools like Printer Driver Modifier, which allows the user to
  23. personalize printer drivers. The manual is full of examples and
  24. introductory sections for novice users, and comes complete with technical
  25. information for Amiga experts.

  30. The evolution of monochrome bitmapped fonts slowed down several years ago,
  31. in favor of vector fonts. Most of the recent and new applications of
  32. bitmapped fonts are related to multicolored fonts. Similarly, while we
  33. created new and powerful tools to edit color fonts, at Cloanto we
  34. terminated the development of the original Personal Fonts Maker package.
  35. This means that the user interface is not, esthetically, up to the newest
  36. standards. The software, however, has no known bugs, and is fully
  37. compatible with all versions of the Amiga operating system. Because of the
  38. wealth of absolutely unique features provided by this software (it was
  39. even used by some printer manufacturers), we believe that it may still be
  40. very helpful in projects involving bitmapped fonts.

  43. CLOANTO PRINTER DRIVER MODIFIER
  44.  
  45. Printer Driver Modifier is a utility to edit the text mode functions of
  46. Amiga printer drivers.
  47.  
  48. The software gives the user full access to any driver's conversion tables
  49. for characters having a code greater than 127 as well as for control
  50. sequences. Printer Driver Modifier can be used to modify existing control
  51. sequences of the printer driver, or add new ones. Switches to national
  52. 7-bit character sets to print a character can be replaced with a single
  53. 8-bit character code. The same can be done with those characters in the
  54. set available on the printer which are represented by the driver as a
  55. series of partial character images and backspaces. If a character is not
  56. available on the printer, it can be downloaded with Personal Fonts Maker,
  57. and the printer driver can be updated with Printer Driver Modifier so that
  58. the new character is translated correctly. If a character cannot be
  59. downloaded because the printer being used does not accept the downloading
  60. of character having codes greater than 127, a new code (smaller than 128)
  61. can be assigned to the character, both in the downloaded font (with
  62. Personal Fonts Maker) and in the printer driver (with Printer Driver
  63. Modifier).
